You must have a clear understanding of the processing treatments undergone by the pearl like beeswax. Sometimes beeswax is added during pearl cleaning and it can affect the luster of the stone. Also you must know about the thickness of the nacre. There is a prominent method called the tooth test to determine if the pearl is real. Natural pearl would feel rough against a tooth. The pearl engagement rings are in fact more expensive than a traditional diamond engagement ring. This is because even though the pearls are cheaper, a pearl ring can be more difficult to set than a more durable mineral gem. The final cost of the engagement ring would determined after considering several factors like the quality of the gem, the design of the setting, the value of the metal used as band and also any other specific customization.
